On Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th October 2019, the 14th General Assembly of the EHPPA association was held in Barcelona in the premises of our Spanish member: Consorci.

First, and as part of the General Assembly, Consorci took the opportunity to organise a Healthcare Procurement European Forum. The objective was to share the main activities of EHPPA member organisations and to understand current innovative trends in public health care procurement in Europe. More than 30 Consorci associates (hospital healthcare procurement staff, hospitals pharmacists, hospital managers…) attended the forum on Monday morning which generated very fruitful discussions with the EHPPA partners.

This was followed by the bi-annual General Assembly meeting attended by the ten European members of the association and the new president and vice-presidents of the association for the next 2 years were elected. After a joint discussion of key strategic topics in public health procurement for the coming year roles were assigned to the new vice-presidents, and the election took place.

The new president of the EHPPA association is Dr. Mario COMBA, president of the SCR Piemonte, who succeeds  Alyson Brett, Managing Director of NHS Commercial Solutions, a founder member of EHPPA, and president since the inception of the association in 2013. The elected vice-presidents will act as sponsors in the following areas of the associations work:

  • Vice-president in charge of benchmarking and exchange of procurement good practice- Ricardo AVENNENTI, Director of CAIB
  • Vice-president in charge of EHPPA Days, and other meetings or conferences - Danny HAVENITH, General director of Mercurhosp
  • Vice-president in charge of external relationships - Gerwin MEIJER, Program manager at NFU
  • Vice-president in charge of Value Based Procurement - Kjetil ISTAD, General director of Sykehusinnkjøp HF

Dominique LEGOUGE, as general director of Resah, remains the executive vice-president of the EHPPA association.

All our EHPPA partners look forward to continuing their active collaboration across Europe and learning from each other.
